About

Corkage is a small, independent wine shop, wine bar and small plate venue on Bath’s artisan Walcot Street.

It is the brainchild of two Bath locals – Richard Knighting and Marty Grant – who have solid reputations in the trade, both locally and nationally. Marty Grant, a wine enthusiast and patron of Gascoyne Place, and Richard Knighting, a local, award winning chef who has worked in some of Bath’s best independent restaurants and gastropubs after training in London.

Our ethos is simple: Make great wine accessible at the best price we can. As many of our wines are sourced directly from the producers we aim to share the benefits of a more cost effective purchasing strategy.

Option 1 buy wine from the shop and enjoy it at home at our off sales price
Option 2 enjoy our cosy, informal venue and buy wine by the glass, or pay a fixed corkage price to enjoy the bottle

Graze through our menu with small plates of food to match the carefully selected wine list.

Wine

Our excellent wines are carefully selected using

wine buyer Marty’s encyclopaedic knowledge of great wines,
sourced directly as well as collaborating with some of the

best names in the wine trade.

“We want to remove the mystique or ‘fear’ of wine, and demonstrate how there’s something for everybody, regardless of budget or experience.” – Marty Grant, wine buyer.

Most of our wines are available to drink in house, from 50ml tasting measures, by the glass, by the carafe or by the bottle, as well being available for purchase via our off-sales section.

Wine Tasting: as we offer a tasting measure as standard, impromptu & informal ‘pop-up’ wine tasting events are already proving to be hugely popular, and there’s an online shop and Wine Club in the pipeline.

After the success of recent wine tastings we are planning to run more through the Autumn – a Languedoc & Roussillon tasting and a Spanish regional tasting are in the pipeline. Please keep an eye on our blog for details and ticket sales.

Off Sales: as we are local to Bath we may be able to deliver locally, depending on the order size – please feel free to enquire.

Food

Whether you are popping in for a glass of wine and a quick bite to eat, or planning on spending a few hours grazing our offering, there will be food that will suit your mood.

The menu is set up to encourage you to graze our food offering whilst matching it to the wines you are drinking.

From lighter fish and shellfish plates, to meat dishes with big flavours, or spiced vegetarian dishes the menu aims to challenge wine choices and encourage interest in pairing wine and food.

Dishes will be seasonal and may change daily according to what is best on the day from local, trusted suppliers.

“Wine can of their wits the

wise beguile, make the sage frolic,

and the serious smile.” Homer
