An Island Odyssey Tasting

This one is for all you lava lovers out there!

Phil Barnet of Les Caves de Pyrène, a specialist importer of ‘natural’ wines, will be taking us on a fascinating wine journey. We will be tasting 6 wines grown on the volcanic soils from islands in the Med and the Atlantic.

The geological complexity of volcanic soils helps to create wines with distinctive mineral complexity. The relatively infertile soils naturally produce smaller grapes with thicker skins and less juice making for greater concentration.

Most of these islands have clung stubbornly to their indigenous grape varieties which are grown nowhere else so we will be tasting wines with unique flavours. We will pair these wines with 5 small plates.
