Nicolas is an experienced oenologist who first passion is the Alsace. He has spent time in New Zealand as an assistant winemaker and has also worked with Antonin Rodet in Burgundy as part of his training.

Nicolas and his father Jean-Remy manage a few estates in the area and develop stunning wines from this legendary terroir.

The Haeffelin family is quite unique in Alsace – it is the only family that has had a winegrower or winemaker in each generation since 1560.

Nicolas will be presenting 7 wines from the Michel Leon, Arthur Metz and the Hospices de Colmar ranges.

The Domaine Viticole de la Ville de Colmar  is located in the heart Alsatian wine region.

The Estates

  • Domaine Sainte-Marguerite :  9 ha in the heart of the Alsatian wine region. It offers the following varieties of grape : sylvaner, riesling, muscat, gewurztraminer.

  • Domaine de Colmar :  12 ha in the south of Alsace wine region. It offers the following varieties of grape : Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Pinot noir.

  • Clos Saint-Jacques : the origins of wine-making in the Clos Saint Jacques date back to 1895, thanks to research carried out by famous ampelographers, pioneers of Alsace viticulture. Unique in Alsace, its vines cover 11ha, protected by typical Alsatian buildings.

  • The famous Domaine des Hospices Civils Louis Pasteur de Colmar : In 1255 the civil hospices of the imperial town of Colmar  were established. The Hospices vineyard was supported over the years by benefactors’ donations and legacies, and today represents a prestigious domain, property of the Louis Pasteur’s civil Hospices.

  • The area covers the best slopes of the surrounding villages,where some vineyards are operated as Grands Crus of which the most prestigious are:

  •  à Eguisheim, l’excellent grand cru Pfersigberg,
  • à Wintzenheim, l’étonnant grand cru Hengst,

  • à Ingersheim, le surprenant grand cru Florimont,

  • à Sigolsheim, le généreux grand cru Mambourg.
